Set Up Step 5: Schedule & Shifts
That’s right, we are now ready to set up your schedule so you can start booking appointments!
In order to begin booking new appointments, you’ll need to set up staff availability on the schedule.
Shifts in Jane will let your patients know when you are working. You can create new Shifts right from the Schedule tab in the main menu.
Find Schedule tab in the top blue bar, and select a staff member on the left to begin. Next, find the “Shifts” button at the top right. The “Shift” button will turn orange and allow you to begin drawing your availability onto the Schedule.

Schedule Set Up Tips
Here are a few tips to keep in mind while setting up your schedule:
Schedule Settings: If you need to adjust the opening and closing time for your administrative schedule, or adjust the schedule grid, you can do this by heading over to Settings in the main menu and finding Schedule Settings on the left. We recommend setting your opening time to 1 hour before your first scheduled appointment, and your schedule closing time to 1 hour after your last scheduled appointment. This can help provide more flexibility when working with the schedule. Learn more about setting the schedule grid here.
Adding Staff Shifts: When adding staff shifts, it’s easiest to set up one staff member’s availability at a time. Select the staff member you’d like to add shifts for in the staff menu on the left side, and then select the Week view at the bottom of the schedule to see the whole week. You can read all about creating a new shift by clicking here.
Advanced Scheduling: Depending on the nuances of your schedule, you may want to use Tags to limit the availability displayed in your online booking. In other instances, you might need to create online availability that will Stagger Your Booking. Or you may need Resource Booking to manage the availability of rooms or equipment necessary for your treatments.
